Mothers Day 2015

Since becoming a mother, it seems to have become a tradition to have a NT day trip. With previous days spent at Sudbury and Canons Ashby, this year we stayed close to home and introduced the family to our new local property. Stoneywell of course.

We started the celebration with a Sunday Lunch, roast chicken with all of the trimmings followed by an incredibly zesty Lemon Meringue Pie. How it came together when I was feeling so completely poorly I don't know!

Mother hen was completely taken with the entire property, even in the dull, dismal and drizzly weather that we were 'blessed' with! We completely lost the boys, they were having too much fun in the grounds, playing hide and seek and climbing the rocks.

I think it is safe to say that we made the most of a dull day!

Mothering Sunday 2014

This morning I made the fluffiest, most delicious pancakes to celebrate mothers day with the family. Served with a homemade fruit compote and mascarpone, they were absolutely delightful.

We made a Mothers Day trip to Canons Ashby, a lovely little National Trust property near Daventry. We had a little explore before sitting down to the most fantastic lunch. We ordered two sharing plates, a deli board and a cheese board and it was an utter delight. Delicious pate, the loveliest ham, creamy mature cheddar, olives, coleslaw, huge salads and even fruit for afters.

Happy Mothers Day to all of my Mummy readers! I hope you had a relaxing day and spoiled your own Mums!

The Weekend

The weekend begun with a party. Our precious little Sophie-Mae turned two on Friday, and we played host to all of her family for a little girly party. My personal favourite part of the whole day was spending the whole evening with her little sister, Chloe-Lea. I had the pleasure of giving her Mummy a little break which was just lovely!
Saturday was pure leisure. Papa had an open day at Uni so wasn't home for most of the day. Mr Bee and I had a rare lazy day, staying in our PJs longer than usual, spending our afternoon in the kitchen and watching films.

Mothers Day brought along the Bastille CD I have been lusting after for so long, even though it was only released this week! We hurried out for a special breakfast with Nana at Patisserie Valerie, Eggs Benedict x3 and a toasted brioche for the littleun. A little wander later and a new chubby stick courtesy of the Mr, and a new perfume picked out we headed home. Louie fancied a snuggle and a film which was just perfect for a snowy day in the warm.

Whilst Pappy cooked up a fantastic three course Mothers Day meal for us, Mr Bee painted me a beautiful picture and covered it in sparkly sequins and glitter. He wanted it to say ' Happy Mothers Day ' so I helped him with the dots and he patiently joined them all up.

Between courses he created some little masterpieces on his chalk board. The first is a slide (see the ladder and the sheer drop!) and the second a bumble bee, drawn all of his own steam with exception of the little wings.
Then for an evening of chocolate goodies, sparkling wine and a film I have been wanting to see for years!

Mothering Sunday 2012

Today I celebrated my third Mothers Day. We exchanged gifts, I received a new Cath Kidston cosmetics case and a lovely card, and we gave Nana her homemade card and gifts. Then we started to get ready for our special trip.

As I was preparing the picnic, Mr Bee was so eager to get going that he put his 'suit' on and was raring to get out in the rain! We headed into Derbyshire to visit Sudbury Hall.

Anyone home?

The weather could not make up its mind but we took shelter in the Childhood Museum. We all enjoyed the museum, especially Nana.
Fascinated by the ceiling

Apparently I had this very toy!
We were just in time for school. We waited in line to be allowed in to class, sat in our chairs and waited for the teacher. Mr Bee sat so well but did get restless. He went round collecting rubbers... luckily he gave them all back!

The teacher even let Louie ring the class bell!
Couldn't miss a Muppet!

We could not tear Mr Bee away from this school bus. He did not want to leave, not even for his lunch. Luckily we managed to distract him with a train.
Picnic

Mr Bee was allowed to walk around the house on his own this time, however he was very eager to touch anything and everything. Papa Bee told him to keep his hands by his sides but he marched around like this instead. It was incredibly cute.

We decided to take the short trip back to the car in the horse and carriage for a treat. Saxon was such a beautiful and obliging horse. Mr Bee was fascinated.

The Bees in the carriage, rather windswept!

Whilst we were in the area, we decided to pay a visit to the 50s American Diner. I have been desperate to visit for months now as it looked so authentic and wonderful. There were some interesting cars outside!

What a beaut!
We had the thickest most icecreamy milk shakes we have ever had! Strawberry for Papa and Mint Chocolate for Louie and I.

Us Mummies were presented with a single red rose at the end of our meal. Mr Bee was so excited to give the 'gower' to me, so very sweet.
We all had such a wonderful day, finished off by a lovely relaxing bath. Perfect
