Catching Up

 Phew, it has been a busy one this week. There has been..

 Steam engines.

Farmers market pizza.

A dinner party.

 Baking.

Exploring our neighbouring village.

 Hands free ice lollies.

 Playing in the garden.

 Seeing some flowers in our garden.

Fairground rides.



And that is just a few snippets of our week! Hopefully we will have a few quiet ones before our May holiday!

The King Richard III Cortége

Today we were lucky enough to have the remains of King Richard III travel through our little village on its way from neighbouring Market Bosworth (and Bosworth Field) to its final resting place at Leicester Cathedral.

It was a special day in the history of Leicester so of course we were ready to celebrate! We visited our local farmers market in Bosworth for our monthly breakfast of Pick's breakfast rolls and stocked up from our favourite butcher. Thanks to my new love affair with Ocado, it was only a little shop at the farmers market this month.
We enjoyed all of the festivities, with the beautiful decorations all around the village. There were people in medieval dress and music playing through loud speakers, it was lovely and atmospheric and made for a lovely morning.

 In the afternoon, we made our way to the local village green for the medieval party. We saw birds of prey (not ready for their photo finish unfortunately!), ladies spinning wool the old fashioned way and Louie even sweet talked a gentleman in to letting him have a go at archery as I wasn't able. It was lovely to have all of this literally on our doorstep. The village was decorated beautifully and it was evident that everyone had made such a wonderful effort.

 We retreated home to keep up to date with where the cortége was on the TV before nipping to the end of the street to watch him drive past! Unfortunately we were expecting a bit more of a spectacle, everyone did seem a little dissapointed but at least we were there for this momentus day in history.

This weekend has been fairly hectic. Friday afternoon we celebrated Harry turning 12.

Saturday morning we busied around stopping off for our favourite Pick's breakfast sandwiches from the Farmers Market, and of course, the fab viennese biscuits from 19 Gates. Our afternoon was spent at Calke. We were supposed to go on a children's photography walk but it was a bit of a shambles so we did our own thing instead. 

Sunday we were up early. We had a little cooked breakfast before heading over to Lichfield to pick up my engagement ring. My prototype wedding ring was perfect (after a little tweaking...!) and we put the deposit down on two wedding bands. Another thing to strike off the list. We restocked the cupboards for the week ahead before getting the amazing chili on and organising lunches for the coming week before flaking out on the sofa with some catch up TV.

Meet Camilla, the Canon 550d

Meet my new friend, Camilla, my spanking new Canon 550d Digital SLR camera! I have been wanting a DSLR ever since my mother left our manual SLR at a wedding a good few years back... It has taken me so long to finally get around to getting one, it feels like I have been reunited with my soul mate!

It has been about 3 years since I have actually used a DSLR camera so I am the first to admit that I am a little rusty. I started off in the Auto mode, as it is as good a place as any to start off with.

We picked up the camera on our way to our favourite Farmers Market, in Burbage. Whilst we were there, we had our regular Picks Farm Breakfast cob, picked up some beautiful pies for our dinner on Monday, had a cup of tea in the church hall and picked up some very cute looking Viennese biscuits. 

Then I thought I would try some snaps of Lou playing with his kitchen.

 In the afternoon, we took Nana Bee to the local Garden centre. She hasn't been since it was renovated, so I took the opportunity to practice some different shots.

 In the evening, Mr Bee had a wave of energy and we all played on the floor for ages! It took a lot of figuring out to get the balance just right.
