Pimms and Pizza

Today we visited our good friend Sam, who was having a Pimms and Pizza party to make use of her wonderful new pizza oven! (What a perfect excuse for a party?!)

Louie got all dressed up for the occasion, knowing that Sam is a huge Doctor Who fan too...

He made lots of new friends, especially with George and Roxz, who kept him entertained with football and hide and seek...

A Day in the City

Today we took a trip into our local city. Having moved out to the sticks, we don't have much time to pop to Leicester as it isn't as convenient as it used to be so today, we thought we would make the most of it.

We visited the Highcross Shopping Centre to spend some of our Christmas/Birthday money. A book for me, a weather experiment kit for the Bee.

We nipped in to Bru for a delicious hot chocolate, and someone insisted on having his photo taken 'laying' against this wall with New Walk in the background...

We walked to the other side of town to New Walk Museum, seeing the sights of Leicester on the way. We studied photographs of India, marveled over the Picasso face plates and had fun making our own art for the childrens exhibition.

At 4pm, we had a date at Peter Pizzeria for a school friends birthday party.

And of course, we didn't want to be left out, so we brought two pizzas home for supper!

Catching Up

Phew, it has been a busy one this week. There has been..

 Steam engines.

Farmers market pizza.

A dinner party.

 Baking.

Exploring our neighbouring village.

 Hands free ice lollies.

 Playing in the garden.

Seeing some flowers in our garden.

Fairground rides.

And that is just a few snippets of our week! Hopefully we will have a few quiet ones before our May holiday!

Hello Spring

After our morning of running errands, we set up camp in the garden. The sun was surprisingly warm, Mr Bee played lego whilst I put us some lunch together and organised the shopping and bits for dinner.

In the afternoon we played with the camera, games of dominoes and made some marshmallow lollipops ready for the party at the weekend. Followed by a delicious homemade pizza for tea.
A poorly boy had a very early night and Mama went for a run whilst Pappy had his late dinner.
What a perfect day!

Homemade Rustichella

Rustichella, one of our favourite pizzas recreated at home.

For the Dough
550g Strong White Bread Flour
7g Active Yeast
2 Tbsp Olive Oil
1 Tsp Light Brown Sugar
320ml Warm Water

Method
Mix the yeast, olive oil and sugar into the warm water. Stir until combined and leave for 2-5 minutes or until the mixture begins to bubble or froth.
In a bowl, make a well with the flour. Gradually pour in the water mixture, drawing the flour in from the edges. Once combined, knead until you have a springy and smooth ball.
Flour a bowl and cover with a tea towel and leave somewhere warm until doubled in size.
Take the dough and knock it back gently. Divide into three/four equal balls and then pull the ball out with your hands to stretch into a pizza base. Leave in the fridge for 10 minutes before adding your toppings.

A base of chopped tomatoes, a sprinkling of cheddar, torn ham, cherry tomatoes and a generous helping of mascarpone before putting in the oven for 10-15 minutes.

Once out of the oven, add a generous handful of rocket, a few shavings of parmesan and a splash of Caesar dressing.

Our twist on one of our favourite restaurant meals! Enjoy!
