Homework

"This week we would like you to explore recipes. You could do some baking, make a sandwich, look through a recipe book or learn about recipes in a way that you would like."

Mr Bee decided that he would have a read through one of his recipe books and he found a recipe for Sausage Skewers. He came shopping with me to buy the ingredients he needed, then did a pretty good job of making lunch all by himself.

Yum, yum, yum!

Catching Up

Oh, I feel that I haven't done anything much for weeks! It has been a tiring few weeks and blogging has just slipped down the list of things to do!

We have been playing at the park, visiting our local heritage railway, getting on with all of the boring things in life, becoming more active in the groups that I have been taking part in and visiting Packwood House, one of my favourite places ever.

Now, I must make more of an effort to keep on top of this little space!!

Knitting at Studio NL

I first learned to knit when I was a little nipper but then when my joints got bad during my late teens, I had to give it up because it just wasn't worth the pain! However, as my wrists have been much better recently, I have been thinking for a good while that I would like to take it back up again, but I completely forgot what I was doing.

When Tracy of Norah George announced she was doing a begninners knitting workshop in the Leicestershire countryside, I thought it was the perfect opportunity to pick up some needles and start again. I travelled to the other side of the county to Tur Langton, the home of Studio NL where the workshop was hosted.

We had a lovely morning, learning the basics. Casting on, knit, purl and casting off. As soon as I got home, I spent my afternoon with my feet up, the boys playing and I made myself a lovely little stripy dish cloth. However, Dan said that it is far too nice to use!!

Many thanks to both Tracy and Roz for the wonderful day :)

Bake

Don't tell anyone but I think I lost my baking mojo.

Today I woke up and just wanted to bake. So I fished out my recipe for a madeira marble cake. A nice and simple loaf cake that is always a joy to make and eat. Delish.

Canons Ashby, Autumn Edition

Today we visited Canons Ashby, one of my firm favourite National Trust properties. I just love how peaceful it is there, Mr Bee is so happy to entertain himself in the garden leaving me to snap away and leaving Pappy to sit and read his new book.

It seems that I have another new NT hobby though, befriending property cats. Not sure on this ones name, maybe Snowflake or something along that vein, but she took a liking to me and curled up and sat on my knee for a good 20 minutes whilst the boys played hide and seek!

Just a usual day out for us, a bit of peace, a bit of quiet and a bit of craziness too!

Sunday at Stoneywell

On our way to Bradgate Park last night, we drove past Stoneywell, which Mr Bee spotted straight away. He asked a few times whilst we were out if we could visit tomorrow, so when we got home I booked us a parking space for first thing in the morning.

This little dude followed up around ALL DAY. No word of a lie!

The first stop on our adventure was of course, the Fort. Mr Bee was quite happy in his 'new house', with a 'stove' and a 'garden' however he was quite put out that the roof was not up to his standards. Then we went for a little wander around to kill some time before heading off to lunch.

(I love this view, all of the angles are so quirky, Mr Gimson, you were one hell of a house designer!)

A Crafters Lunch. Cheese scones, pickle, extra cheese and tea for two. Devoured.

 (A bit more climbing...)

I think the bee was the only child visiting today which meant that he not only had free roam of the Fort but also unlimited swings on the swing in the tree. I think King Louie ( the king of the swingers of course ) spent a good hour playing on the swing whilst I relaxed on a bench nearby. He is getting so good at this swinging lark!

Then we hurried home ready to greet Pappy home from his trip to Burnley. What a gorgeous way to spend a Sunday.
