Burbage Common and Woods

Our Friday meet up with Anna and Issac took us out for lunch followed by a lovely stroll around Burbage common and woods.

The boys were so good in the restaurant, Isaac munching away on some cucumber and Louie scoffing all his lunch! They both had room for a little bit of ice cream, what a treat!

Of course, once we got out of the car, Lou was in his element, with vast open spaces to bound around. Isaac stayed snuggled up in our Ergo which Anna borrowed and fell in love with!

We saw an awful lot of birds, Great Tits, Robins and one rare birdy which Anna identified but I had never heard of, and can't remember!

This is Louie copying me. I bent down to take a photograph of him, so he came and stood in the spot I was standing, and bent down to see what I was looking at. I will make a photographer of him yet!
As well as birds, we saw an awful lot of doggies, very friendly doggies! One of them jumped up at Louie and got his coat all dirty, which Louie didn't like very much. He did think it was some fun playing with all the lovely puppy dogs though!
We must visit here more often :)

Crazy Hats 9th Annual Charity Walk!

On Sunday morning, we got up very early (with protest I may add!) after a manic few days, to drive down to Wicksteed Park in Kettering for the Crazy Hats 9th Annual Charity Walk!
This is the second year that I have attended. Last year, I was a mere 5 weeks post partum, and bearing in mind the state I was in, I was very proud to have completed two of the five miles, carrying Louie in a pouch sling. Everyone cooed at him whilst he slept most of the way!
Crazy Hats Walk 2010

March 2010, 5 weeks old!
This year, I am proud to have taken part, we marched around the park and completed the 5 miles at 12:00. It is my first charity walk in which I have used my Ergo, which was kindly donated from the Ergo folk in Germany. We plan to do more fundraising events throughout the year.
I am pleased to say that I carried Louie (weighing approx 22lbs) extremely comfortably, and as you can see, he was comfortable enough to have dozed off!
I adorned my crazy statue of liberty hat which I have had for about 15 years, which my Mom bought for me to grow into which is still too big :P Unfortunately I didn't have a silly hat for Louie, but I have one in the pipeline for the future so I will keep you posted! We managed to hit the £100 mark this year too!
Anyway, here are the pictures and proof I did it!
Marching on ahead!

How We Do a Back Carry

On a forum I frequent, it became apparent that people were struggling with back carries using a mei tai or other similar sling. I kind of do my own thing and have found an easy way of getting baby safely on my back so here is my tutorial :)

Twycross Zoo

Yesterday we visited Twycross Zoo, it was Louie's first time at the zoo. We went with Anna, Sam, Nade, Paul and Emmanuel. It was the first time we had ALL been together since Emmanuel's christening when Louie was 6 weeks old.
We had a lovely time, the weather held out for us and we missed the rain. Dan wore Louie in the ergo for the first time yesterday. He complained a bit but was happy over all :)
We took a beautiful picnic of the treats I made on Saturday - soup, bread rolls and cookies, and had such a nice day.
