Snow Day
This morning we woke up to a blanket of thick, white snow! Though we were all super excited, we were quickly put off about needing to get to school and work. Whilst waiting for the verdict as to whether school would actually be open, Louie and I took a little walk to the edge of the village with our cameras. The snow was about ankle deep, so a fair amount compared to the dusting over the city.
The roads were a nightmare, it took an hour to drive 1 mile, and it took me 2 whole hours to get across the town to the office! Louie was nearly an hour late for school due to two stuck lorries but we got there in the end, 10 out of 10 for effort ;)

24
For the day, we visited Upton House, a beautiful estate encapsulated in 1930s glamour. Decidedly less colourful than our last visit, we walked the gardens, playing in the snow. Nana and Grandad were very taken with the house, enjoying the paintings and relatively mod cons!
We hurried home, ready for my big surprise (as outlined in the crossword!). Dinner for two, at seven, followed by a good nights sleep and breakfast at our favourite haunt, Mai Yango (which you may remember from our anniversary last year).
Compliments to the chef for the most fantastic meal we have ever tasted, followed by a bottle of bubbly and a film back in our huge bed.
A perfect birthday.

Snowy Woods
Wrapping up warm, we packed a little picnic lunch and headed out for some fresh air. A flask of tea, sandwiches, vegetable crisps and biscuits. Snow was falling around us as we walked through the snow patched woods.
The boys played in the stream, making bridges and dams, whilst I bimbled around with my camera.
We spent the afternoon with various family and friends before heading out to our favourite restaurant, Ashfields, for an early birthday supper. Delicious!

Snow Day
The cars haven't left the drive since the early weekend, and at ten past six this morning, I had the call to say we wouldn't be heading out to work today. Our first snow day spent indoors.
Watching films, playing lego, jigsaws and sticking were on todays agenda. Snuggling up together and drinking cosy tea and watching the cars struggle past on the main road.
With more snow due for tomorrow and later in the week, who knows how much longer we will be enjoying the wonderful snow before heading back to the real world!
