Catching Up

As usual, the week after a holiday is a busy one. Catching up on washing and settling back in a home. Unfortunately, back to school and work too. Camilla (the camera...!) has been firmly rooted in her camera bag, but I have been snapping on instagram, so here's what we have been up to.

The new, 'emergency' boots I bought on holiday have become a great pair of garden boots! Easy on and off when the lawn is a litle damp! The basket was giving me a helping hand too, as usual ;) It was so nice to come back to my little (and I mean little) garden empire. It has come on so much from starting out with nothing at all. I can't wait to show you how it looks in a few weeks!!!

We returned from our holiday late Friday evening and Saturday was a fine day, so we decided to have a barbeque, the first outdoor meal in our new house, very exciting! We had yummy (and healthy!) kebabs with a range of salads followed by marshmallows, of course!

Sunday featured a last minute nip in to the city, I was treated to some goodies from lush. A lavender scented bubble bar, very fitting for our wedding anniversary.

And in the evening, we went to a local restaurant to celebrate our first wedding anniversary. They even had wheat and lavender in jars and bottles on the tables. It was far too perfect.

And then when we were home, we snuggled up and watched The History Boys, brilliant film!

Tuesday we made fajitas. Mr Bee was very excited to assemble his own dinner. It was glorious.

Breakfast on the go. A strawberry and oatmeal smoothie from my new breakfast recipe book. YUM!

Soup Wednesdays. I made roasted tomato and basil soup for dinner and baked a delicious pesto swirl loaf to accompany. It was divine!

Nicer weather! Our afternoons after school have been blessed with a little bit of sun! Three evenings this week we have been able to sit and play in the garden. We have been dreaming about days like these.

And lastly, a beautiful bit of cow parsley on the school run. Beautiful!

So that is a little snippet of our week. What have you been up to?

Solo

This weekend was the North West derby, Burnley v Blackburn. Pappy took Mr Bee with him up and graciously offered me a weekend of rest. I made so many plans for the weekend that was set to be the nicest of the year. A trip to Sunnycroft near Telford followed by a day of baking and cooking a delicious dinner without any distractions.
Saturday started off beautifully. A lie in, a breakfast of a delicious smoothie (see above) and a cup of fresh coffee. The weather was a little gloomy looking so I decided to spend the day baking and venture out on Sunday. I baked some beautiful vanilla and raspberry whoopie pies, to my own recipe. After admiring my handiwork, I sat down with a fresh cup of green tea.
That is when disaster happened. I managed to spill a full cup of fresh tea all over myself causing a terrible scald. I darted into the cool shower and rang mother hen, a nurse who happens to specialise in burns. When she arrived home from the shops half an hour later I was in shock, shaking terribly and she decided I needed to go in to hospital. Luckily we weren't there long, we ran into one of the registrars who took a look at my leg (of which most of my thigh was burned) and cleaned me up and sent me home with an appointment for Monday.

So my sunny Sunday was spent here. With the door open to let in the sun and fresh air of the 18 degrees outside. Playing away with photoshop to my hearts content, working on some new projects, hobbling around and trying to keep he pain at bay whilst I wait for my boys to return home.
I do feel like a silly sausage, having had such an embarrassing accident which looks like it could take a little while to heal! Although a day of rest, watching Dr Who and cookery programmes has been a lovely change!

This week we have been a little quiet. An awkward Physio messed up any plans for Tuesday so we stayed home. Mr Bee decided to have an OCD moment and sort out all of his trousers. That was fun. Luckily, he OCD'd them back again with out too much bother (after he decided he didn't like most of them and stashed them under his bed...).
Today has been bliss. A lazy morning in bed, a delicious smoothie in the sunny garden and drawing pictures.
We made our way to New Walk Museum to see the dinosaurs, however they were eclipsed by the Picasso exhibition that was on upstairs. Louie was absolutely enthralled by the funny faces on the ceramic plates, copying them and admiring the bright colours. He was in his element and his Grandpa would be so proud.
