Hazlewood Castle

Dan made a last minute booking only a few days before the wedding, to whisk me off to a medieval castle on the outskirts of York. Rich in history and acres of parkland, this castle was the absolute perfect place to stay for our special weekend.

We didn't arrive until the evening, as we had spent the whole day in York. But once we did arrive, we were upgraded to a Master Suite. Our very own bedroom, sitting room and enormous bathroom. I had a lovely soak in the bath (after the past few days, my body was not coping very well at all!) before setting down in the HUGE bed.

In the morning we got up and walked around the castle to the restaurant for breakfast. We packed the car up and went for a stroll around the grounds. The weather was glorious, and I wore one of the dresses Dan gave to me as a wedding gift.

We drove back in to York for more exploring before coming home to the pile of wedding gifts that awaited us!

Our 'MiniMoon' in York

After the wedding, Louie went home with Nana leaving us Newlyweds to stay in the gorgeous little cottage on the Calke Estate. We got up early (ish), packed up the car and drive to York for a weekend away as husband and wife.

The first stop on our trip was of course Betty's. We queued for a little while but it was absolutely worth it. I had a full english breakfast for my Lunch and it was absolutely delicious.

We wandered the beautiful streets and shops, buying a pair of flip flops (as my Mom took all my shoes back home after the wedding...) and finding the most amazing antique shops ever.

We headed to Jamie's Italian for dinner and had the most delicious meal. I think we were both pretty gutted that there isn't one near to our home, it was THAT good!

And then after more of a walk around the beautiful city, we caught the park and ride bus back to our little car and drove to our hotel for the night, a castle on the outskirts of York!

Ups and Downs

Ups: Having a great week at work getting so much done.Getting all dressed up for a work outing at the Leicestershire Business Awards and meeting some awesome people there. A spontaneous trip to York for Grandads birthday. A gorgeous meal at Chiquitos. Getting gorgeous gifts delivered at work! Driving through HUGE and deep puddles on the way home from work.

Downs: Killing my wrists and various other joints from working too hard. Car failing its MOT. Scalding my hand pretty badly on a mug of Tea. Snapping my glasses in two. Missing out on the 'New Business' Award. Getting really wet walking around York. New glasses shopping. Getting soaked from having the windows open and driving through a huge puddle!
