Birthday in Brum
We celebrated my birthday a day early this year due to everyone working my actual birthday. We decided to visit Birmingham for a spot of shopping, somewhere nice for lunch and of course, my birthday wouldn't be complete without a NT trip ;)
We spent an hour exploring the Bull Ring, picking up some bargains on the way, new shoes for spud, a new dress and some CD's for the birthday girl!
We opted for Jamie's Italian for lunch and we weren't disappointed, especially with our lovely waiter! Each of us thoroughly enjoyed our lunch and yummy mocktails!
We navigated away across the city quite easily, and made our way to NT Back to Backs. This is an unusual property, a court of back to back houses. Each house is prepared in the era of some of its past residents, starting from 1840 and ending in 1960. We particularly enjoyed the fact that it was a 'hands on' property, meaning Louie could really interact and get stuck in.
Walking back to the car park, Louie found a park to let off some steam (in his gorgeous new orange shoes!) and so concludes our birthday trip!

Louie Turns 6!!
This morning we were woken bright and early by a brand new 6 year old! Someone was rather excited about his birthday, so we got up and let him have his presents first thing. This little bee was rather spoiled, receiving so many wonderful gifts from his friends and family. Particular highlights included new the Doctor Who Lego set, Eddie Stobart trucks for his collection (not pictured) and the den building kit!
After a quick nip around the corner to our local Farmers Market, we quickly had some sausage sandwiches before making our way to Birmingham for a full day of fun at the Think Tank.
Louie was fascinated by all of the fossils and skeletons, however he was rather concerned that I would see the fossilized fish so he hid them from me. (For those of you who don't know, I have a rather silly phobia of fish and he thought I would be scared, bless his little cottons!)
The Spitfire Floor was obviously going to be a winner with the boys, and Dan was very excited to try on the pilots gear!
Kids Corner was absolutely brilliant and Louie was completely immersed in the role play. He was a dentist, a doctors receptionist, a barista (though I am still waiting for my decaf cappuccino...), a plumber and a taxi driver!
We watched a wonderful film in the Planetarium, answering questions about whether there is life on other planets. At this point it was dinner time so we headed over to the Bull Ring for our dinner, Handmade Burger as requested by the birthday boy where we all feasted on some yummy burgers.
I can't believe our baby boy is 6 and his birthday is all done for another year!
