Wistow

Half Term seems to have blessed us with some gorgeous weather! The sun was shining and the weather was mild so we spent the afternoon exploring some more of the Leicestershire countryside with some old friends.

Just What We Needed

A glorious countryside walk and a visit to the Wistow Rural Centre to make our simple picnic amazing. Olives, biscuits and yummy drinks from the Mediterranean Kitchen, a pal we have made from our Farmers Market trips. If you are local, trust us, he is amazing. Dan and Louie love the olives and I adore the fresh bread and perfect turkish delight!
We sat on our blanket eating our delish sandwiches and reading our magazines in the sunshine until it was too hot and time to get the Sunday roast on.
On our way home, we saw an abundance of Elderflowers absolutely everywhere. Too many to go home empty handed. After the boys settled down at home, I went on a forage with some scissors and a bag and came home with enough flowers to make some home made cordial.

And then for dinner. As you will probably know, Sunday dinner is a big thing in our household. With Nana away at work, I had a free reign to do something a little different. A succulent lemon and thyme stuffed chicken, with the most perfectly cooked veg. All cooked in one huge tray. Less washing up for Pappy.
Homemade Tiramisu for after... a masterpiece if I do say so myself (as I would, as Dan and Louie's were a bit sloppy... too much coffee).

The heavens have opened and I have my feet up whilst the boys play quietly. A DVD to watch after bedtime will finish off a truly needed, relaxing day.

Sunny Weekend

This weekend has been a bit of a lazy weekend. We popped into town on Saturday morning for a few bits and bobs, then played in the garden all day!

Our veggies are coming on well now. We have already had a mini harvest of peas, and these are our first two tomatoes, of which Louie scoffed, straight from the plant!

Louie spent most of the day in the washing basket, splishing and sploshing. Generally causing mischief.

I managed to get a little gift made for one of my best friends who is getting married in a few weeks. I can't wait to go to Wales for the ceremony, I am sure it will be idyllic. Can't wait to see Rach and Liz again, it is always too long.

We enjoyed a pasta bake 'al fresco' and were joined by 'Great Uncle Gerard'. Mr Bee just LOVES him, and is always keen to show him his new favourite toys. They played for ages with the cars.

On Sunday, I was such a lucky girl. I was given a lie-in until 11am ! Wasted half the day in bed! When I finally woke up, I found my little man like this...
a very rare sight, asleep in his pushchair!
So we had lunch when L woke up and we headed off to Wistow maze. Every year it changes, last year it was a Spitfire, this year it was a Bee and a Bee Hive (how apt!)

Except, it was VERY hot and humid, and after only about 15 mins, we were hot and sweaty, Mr Bee was miserable and hankering after milk so we made a quick exit to find some refreshments.
