What a day. Breakfast in the garden. Playing nicely. Canons Ashby - what an adventure! Clotted cream tea after lunch. Buying a stack books from the second hand bookshop. Salad was all we could muster for dinner on a day like today. Finding a vintage/antique shop on my street and buying a chair for our nearly finished bedroom... perfect!

Jubilee Diamond

We had rather a surprise today at Sudbury Hall. As we entered the courtyard we were confronted by a huge diamond. From a distance it looked like honeycomb, but on closer inspection (and looking at the board!) we saw that it was in fact a 2.5 metre molecular structure of a diamond.

To celebrate the Queen's Diamond Jubilee last June, the people of Uttoxeter created a record breaking model of a diamond. 35990 transparent balls represent each atom of carbon.

The sculpture was displayed in Uttoxeter town centre and is now having a turn at Derbyshire's Sudbury Hall.

Mr Bee and Isaac had lots of fun peering into the model and pulling funny faces!

Fit For A Princess...

Yesterday saw the visit of the Queen and Kate Middleton to our city of Leicester. They were visiting De Montfort University (in which Papa Bee attends) at the start of their Jubilee Tour.
As part of their visit to the university, Kate Middleton was to pick a winner of a very special competition. The students of the Footwear Design course were to design a shoe for the Duchess to wear, in which the winning design would be made and given to her.

Our very good friend, Becka Hunt who you will recognise if you are frequent visitors to my blog, was picked as part of the final 6. Her prototype was made and she had the opportunity to meet the Queen and the Duchess, who would be choosing her favourite shoe.

As you will have probably noticed (as it has been all over the worldwide media!), our beautiful friend Becka won the competition! She has had such a hectic day, with numerous media interviews, including being whisked away to London for an appearance on Daybreak!

The winning design

We are so incredibly proud of Becka, Mr Bee keeps asking to see her on the television again and again, what a novelty for him, seeing his 'girlfriend' on the screen!

This is such an amazing opportunity for Becka and her career, we know she is destined for great things!

Well done Becka, we love you!
