Waitrose Pure

It has been a while since I posted about my regular skin care regime. I was well stocked up on Clinique goodies after a few birthdays and Christmas' that it kept me going for a number of months! As I was scraping out the last few dollops of my moisturiser, I remembered reading a review of the Waitrose Pure skin care products.

Each product is £2.99, a bargain and when I purchased them, they were on 4 for 3 across the range, so I picked one of each except the make up remover as I already have two bottles waiting at home.

What can I say, my face is beautifully clear, a battle that I have constantly with my skin. It feels clean and refreshed without the pulling sensation from the Clinque range. 

Although I would rather use a dedicated cleanser, the cleansing wipes do a fantastic job of clearing off the days make up and starting a fresh for the day. I have been using the beauty oil as a face wash in the morning and that has been working a treat. The face cream has a lovely, light feel to it which leaves your skin perfectly hydrated all day and the eye gel is perfect for plumping up those tired eyes (after 4 and half years of broken sleep...).

What can I say other than how impressed I am with this range. It is brilliant on the pocket and does a spiffing job of cleaning and generally making my face feel lovely.

Well done Waitrose!

Bare Minerals Original, Fair

I was seriously sceptical about this product but it is seriously amazing. I have noticed a marked improvement in the quality of my skin in the two weeks of using this mineral powder which was more than I ever expected. I love how easy it is to achieve a natural coverage.

Bare Minerals Concealer, Bisque

The little magic pot. I was blown away by this concealer, never before have blemishes been covered so successfully without even a hint of caking. I had no intention of buying a concealer when I visited the counter but as soon as it was applied, I knew it was coming home with me.

Bare Minerals Mineral Veil

After watching a lot of bridal make up tutorials, I learned that a finishing powder was a must, so I bought one of these not long after Christmas and have been using it to set my make up. Of course, I find it works much better with the rest of the Bare Minerals range but it sure does its job, and gives a gentle glow to boot.

Urban Decay Naked Basics

I love this palate, you can create so many different looks and the quality is just fantastic.

Clinique Chubby Stick Shadow Tint, Pink and Plenty

I have always loved eye shadow sticks. Just a quick smudge and off you go, simple and effective when you don't have ages to apply make up!

Clinique Airbrush Concealer

A totally reliable concealer which I now use as a back up for really dark/red blemishes.

The Body Shop Define and Lengthen Mascara

Cowshed Cowlick Shampoo and Saucy Cow Conditioner
Every time I go up north I notice how the hard water here in the Midlands makes my hair feel like straw. After our trip to Maiyango, I fell in love with the Cowshed range, especially their haircare. It makes my hair smell amazing (even late into the night!) and my hair is perfectly soft without going lank by the evening.

Fat Face Pyjamas
I was long overdue a pair of pyjamas at Christmas time. When I sadly didn't receive any as a gift, I knew I had to have the pair that I had eyed up in the Trafford Centre before Christmas. Nice and snug new PJ's. I love them!

Bare Minerals Prime Time
What a stunning little product. So light, this primer glides on. I was a little surprised at how orange it was as it came out of the bottle but it smoothes the skin beautifully. A perfect base to any makeup for that flawless finish.

Lush Cupcake Face Mask
Ooh, a pot of chocolate but not for your tum, what a tease! This smells so yummy and is very relaxing. It leaves your skin nice and clear, perfect for a girlie night in.

Clinique Repairwear Uplifting
A little miracle cream. Really hydrating and great for dry patches, puffy eyes and dark circles. And the tub lasts for ages and ages! A definite staple in my overnight bag.

For Hannah - My Daily Regime

Hannah over at tea.three.sugars posted about what is inside her makeup bag, and in her nosiness, encouraged me to join in even though mine is really not very exciting, but I am sure there are others just as nosy.

So here we go!
I start off with my lovely Liz Earle cleanse and polish, toner, soothing eye lotion and skin repair light moisturiser (for my combination skin). This is an every morning without fail routine that I have stuck to since last December and now would not be without. Highly recommended!

After a good wash goes on my make up. As you can see, my make up bag is rather spare. I don't wear make up every day, sometimes I wear just a little and on others I make a proper effort (well to my standards anyway).

1. Body Shop Vitamin E Illuminating Cream - I tend to dab a small amount on my cheeks to give me a little bit of an alive look most mornings.
2. Clinique Anti-Blemish Solutions - As some of you will know from my previous post, I tend to get a lot of spots (hormonal) and I have found this foundation is wonderful. It is really gentle on the skin and luckily it is pale enough (just about) for my whiter than white skin.
3. Liz Earle Spot On - I wouldn't be without this spot stick, it is marvelous. At the first sign of one coming I dab this on (repeatedly if I remember) and it really reduces the spot down and makes it less of a scary mess.
4. Natural Collection Concealer - this has been a staple in my makeup bag since I first started wearing make up. It is just a basic concealer but it is pale enough for my skin so it fits the bill.
5. Ecotools makeup brush - I prefer using a brush so naturally it is an eco friendly one.
6. Body Shop Illuminating Concealer - This has been a godsend since all the sleepless nights. It does a pretty good job of hiding the bags under my eyes!
7. Virgin Vie Time Proof Eye Creme - This was a gift at Christmas and it is an eye shadow that fits all occasions and is simple, quick and easy.
8. Body Shop Lengthening Mascara - Does what it says on the tin!

 And last but not least, my modest (and random) selection of nail colours. I always seem to have my nails painted these days, and the Topshop one on the left (Barefoot) is my absolute favourite, closely followed by the grey one!

Review: Liz Earle Skincare

When I was about 13 or 14 years of age, I was visited by my great Aunt Delia from Australia, and her daughter Aliesha. They came to stay with us for about three weeks and we so much enjoyed having them. There was one thing that they both taught me, and it is something that I will never forget.
They taught me the importance of looking after your skin. Before, I would wash my face with no real significance, but Auntie Delia told me what I should be doing, and that if I looked after my skin, it would really show when I got older.  It really did affect me, especially with my outlook when it comes to make-up, plastic surgery and similar things, I very much believe in growing old gracefully.

Since then, I have been trying to find suitable products for my skin. I have tried all sorts! I have quite combination skin really, it isn’t sensitive at all, so I am quite lucky really.  I do however have quite spot prone, teenager type skin… still. All through my teenage years I thought to myself, oh I will grow out of this, yet getting well in to my twenties, it is still plaguing me!  I was thankful that  my skin did seem to clear slightly at the end of my pregnancy, and lasted for a few months after, but it did return.

So when I was visiting a fellow blog a few weeks ago, I saw a review of Liz Earle’s skincare range. The review was outstanding, so in a rut with my skin once again, I thought it might be worth giving them a go.

The Liz Earle website is very informative.  I managed to find a detailed skin regime that was tailored to my type of skin suggesting a range of products to use. I ordered every product that was recommended (in a trial size I may add!), thinking that if I am going to do this, I might as well do it properly.

My order arrived and everything was individually wrapped, looking very cute! I immediately went to the bathroom and had a go with my lovely new products, even though it was three in the afternoon. Firstly, I used the ‘Hot Cleanse and Polish’ cleanser with the muslin cloth, exfoliating scrub followed by the Toning Spritz and finished off with the Light Moisturizer, suggested for combination skin.

Immediately, my skin felt like it was glowing. It just felt clean. The cleanser did most of the work, and I used the exfoliator for my particularly dry bits. The toner refreshed instantly, and the light moisturizer was like food for my skin. All of the products just smell so beautiful, Papa Bee commented on the smell of my face straight away!

In my parcel was a complimentary sachet of their new tinted moisturizer. I was a little reluctant to even try this product, as I don’t often wear makeup, especially not a foundation type makeup. I have very fair skin and end up looking like a tangerine, make up is certainly not my forte. However, we were going out for the evening so I thought I would make some kind of effort and try this tinted moisturizer/foundation. I was pleasantly surprised. It was very thin, which meant that even with my fair skin, I could blend it nicely, which is saying something as I am not good at applying make-up!  I liked it so much that I am actually going to get some when I place my next order!

I have been using the Liz Earle skincare products for about a month now, and I have definitely seen a difference in my skin. It seems to be much cleaner and it doesn’t feel stiff in this cold weather. I am yet to see whether it has dramatically reduced my spot situation, but I can tell that they are much easier to manage now I am using the Liz Earle products, especially the Spot-On stick.

My little trial tubes are getting low now and I am definitely going to replenish my supply. I have already been to John Lewis for a large tube of Cleanse and Polish and Moisturizer (they have depleted quicker than the rest of my arsenal) which is handy to know that I can just pop in to town for the essentials.
