Joules V.I.P

On Wednesday, I had the wonderful opportunity to visit our capital to be part of the Joules AW15 press day which was taking place in Covent Garden. I was one of 10 lucky winners, chosen as Joules' Biggest Fans from a Facebook competition. I was absolutely gobsmacked of course, but I jumped at the chance of taking a sneak peek of all of the lovely things which will probably become part of my wardrobe in the future!

It was an early morning, Dan took a few hours off so that he could take Mr Bee to school and I hopped on the train to make my journey down south. Upon arrival, I was asked to choose three of my favourite pieces which I had to tell to a very lovely camera man (of course, I was equally as interested in the camera as I was the Joules stuff...).

Everything was so beautifully laid out. From the podium of wellies, the very cleverly engineered RAIN display to the enormous breakfast table (which you couldn't eat!), the attention to detail was utterly magnificent.

The AW15 Press Day showcased the very best of Joules and probably some of their most beautiful pieces yet, including those beautiful pom pom trimmed cushions!

After a few hours browsing the utterly gorgeous new things, us lucky prize winners were whisked off to the local Bill's for lunch with Tom Joule (!!!) and what a lovely chap he is! We spent hours chatting away over a lovely girly lunch and I made friends with a gorgeous little lady called Ava, aged 4, who was truly scrumptious, though when she pulled her vintage Polly Pockets out, the whole table starting ooh'ing and aah'ing at the little treasures, it was almost as exciting as our awesome goody bags!

Then when everyone filtered off home, I hopped down to Regent Street for a spot of shopping for my boys ( I couldn't possibly come home empty handed) and then met lovely Becka for dinner and another girly catch up. I so wish we could do this more often!

I had such an impressive, wonderful day, I would very much like to thank Joules, Mr Joule and lovely Sam for treating me to such an unforgettable day.

Christmas Day

 Oh what a wonderful day! So many gifts for everyone, including extra special surprises! A day of playing, cooking, eating and laughing!

 So much for Mr Bee!

 And so much for me! And that isn't even all of it! Mother Hen bought Papa and I a huge box and filled it to the brim with kitchen essentials. Whisks, sieves, saucepans and spatulas, it had everything you would need!

 Then came the extra special gift. A belated engagement present from Mother Hen, a Kitchen Aid mixer of our very own. You can't understand how overwhelmed I was, I cried for a little while! Such an extravagant gift, but very, very welcomed!

Then a huge meal, cooked by Papa and I for everyone. It was just perfect! Everything from scratch and utterly beautiful! We can't wait to do it all again next year!

My Boy -

Today, Mr Bee insisted that he wore his brand new christmas trousers, tweed with braces. Twinned with his waffle grandad teeshirt and tweed jacket, he looked like a child of the Victorian era!
He looked incredibly cute indeed, and he loved his new look.

We visited Anna and Isaac today and they took us to a local park that they have found, hidden away near their house. After a good long play, Mr Bee was covered in mud (boys!). We couldn't decide whether he looked like a farm hand (child labour?!) or a young Dicken from the 90s adaptation of Black Beauty.

Autumn Wardrobe 2012 Take 2!

So a few weeks ago I blogged about Mr Bee's new A/W wardrobe but I recently treated myself to a few new pieces for the cooler weather. Hannah over at Tea, Three Sugars alerted me to the brand new Orla Kiely for Uniqlo collection and within 5 mins, I had bought a beautiful dress. 

As soon as the dress arrived, I tried it on and immediately bought another two! They are so easy to wear and are just so pretty!

 My new wardrobe isn't quite as exciting as Mr Bees, but I love them! 

Autumn 2012 Wardrobe

 I have always been very fussy with the way I have dressed Louie. I am very particular and like him always to be smart. We have always had comments on how well he is dressed, but this is the first time in which I have had the opportunity to put together a whole series of clothes for Louie. We have been incredibly fortunate to have had an awful lot of clothes gifted and given to us. Thankfully, Grandma Jo and I have the same taste ;) It has been fun picking things out, and putting things together so I thought I would share them with you whilst I relax with a cuppa!

Shopping

Today, Mr Bee and I went shopping. We haven't been in a while, so I decided to treat him. Unfortunately I am incredibly fussy, so we came home with a spring jacket for him, one pair of jeans and some new shoes. 

His usual shoe of choice, Converse, were far too big in a 6, and with a 5 being too teeny, the lady suggested the Vans shoe. It fitted lovely with some room to grow and more importantly, Mr Bee loved them :)

 We made a stop at the bookshop as I promised him we could take some books home. He saw a book about an Owl in the window so we searched hard for it inside, fell in love and took it home. It is called 'A Bit Lost' by Christ Houghton. It is perfect, we would highly recommend it!

The only things brought home for Mama Bee were a bunch of flowers to cheer me up and two new nail colours.

Skirt

For the past few days, I have been working on a skirt for myself.

I ordered this fabric a few weeks ago, just half a yard, and fell in love with it so much that I ordered some more, to make myself a skirt. I also decided to incorporate the ribbon that matches it so well, by adding it around the bottom of the skirt. As I wasn't going to do a hidden zip, I decided to get a nice bright one to match the patterns on the skirt. I wanted an aqua blue but couldn't get one, so I settled for bright orange instead.

I didn't have a pattern, so just drew around a skirt which I already have which is a little bit big, so I figured that would account for the seam allowances.

 I cut the fabric and the lining, pinned it all, tacked it all and tried it on, it fit fine! But then it was bed time

The next day I got it all machined, the bright orange zip went in fine, no problems. That took me most of the evening. 

Then today I spent half an our hemming the bottom by hand and voila!

It isn't the neatest of skirts, and certainly not something I could make for someone else, but for me, I am happy with it! I can't wait to wear it when we go on holiday in September!
