A Day in the City
Today we took a trip into our local city. Having moved out to the sticks, we don't have much time to pop to Leicester as it isn't as convenient as it used to be so today, we thought we would make the most of it.
We visited the Highcross Shopping Centre to spend some of our Christmas/Birthday money. A book for me, a weather experiment kit for the Bee.
We nipped in to Bru for a delicious hot chocolate, and someone insisted on having his photo taken 'laying' against this wall with New Walk in the background...
We walked to the other side of town to New Walk Museum, seeing the sights of Leicester on the way. We studied photographs of India, marveled over the Picasso face plates and had fun making our own art for the childrens exhibition.
At 4pm, we had a date at Peter Pizzeria for a school friends birthday party.
And of course, we didn't want to be left out, so we brought two pizzas home for supper!

This week we have been a little quiet. An awkward Physio messed up any plans for Tuesday so we stayed home. Mr Bee decided to have an OCD moment and sort out all of his trousers. That was fun. Luckily, he OCD'd them back again with out too much bother (after he decided he didn't like most of them and stashed them under his bed...).
Today has been bliss. A lazy morning in bed, a delicious smoothie in the sunny garden and drawing pictures.
We made our way to New Walk Museum to see the dinosaurs, however they were eclipsed by the Picasso exhibition that was on upstairs. Louie was absolutely enthralled by the funny faces on the ceramic plates, copying them and admiring the bright colours. He was in his element and his Grandpa would be so proud.

New Walk Museum
Yesterday, Dan wanted to watch the football which was being shown in a bar in town, so Louie and I headed off to the New Walk Museum whilst we waited for him.
Louie had a whale of a time! He was so interested in the exhibits, leading me around. We must have looked at every single painting and sculpture and show case in the building!
I was so pleased that Louie took such a positive interest. He really studied some of the exhibits, and I told him all about what was going on in the pieces, and about the artists. His Grandpa would have been very proud :)

In the morning, his Little Life backpack arrived, so I thought it would be a good excuse to try it out before we go on holiday next week. It is fab, and Louie even likes wearing it! However, it did make taking photos of him rather difficult, being at arms length! Nevermind :)
After we finished at the museum, Louie took me for a walk up and down New Walk. New Walk is a pedestrian path running from Victoria Park into the centre of Leicester and has been free from carriages and motor vehicles since it was laid in 1785! It is wonderfully peaceful :)
