Today we were lucky enough to have the remains of King Richard III travel through our little village on its way from neighbouring Market Bosworth (and Bosworth Field) to its final resting place at Leicester Cathedral.
It was a special day in the history of Leicester so of course we were ready to celebrate! We visited our local farmers market in Bosworth for our monthly breakfast of Pick's breakfast rolls and stocked up from our favourite butcher. Thanks to my new love affair with Ocado, it was only a little shop at the farmers market this month.
We enjoyed all of the festivities, with the beautiful decorations all around the village. There were people in medieval dress and music playing through loud speakers, it was lovely and atmospheric and made for a lovely morning.
In the afternoon, we made our way to the local village green for the medieval party. We saw birds of prey (not ready for their photo finish unfortunately!), ladies spinning wool the old fashioned way and Louie even sweet talked a gentleman in to letting him have a go at archery as I wasn't able. It was lovely to have all of this literally on our doorstep. The village was decorated beautifully and it was evident that everyone had made such a wonderful effort.
We retreated home to keep up to date with where the cortége was on the TV before nipping to the end of the street to watch him drive past! Unfortunately we were expecting a bit more of a spectacle, everyone did seem a little dissapointed but at least we were there for this momentus day in history.

Sunday
Things are still proving to be a little hectic for us which isn't leaving much time to update this old friend unfortunately. Please remind me to schedule in a Photo an Hour to get myself back into the swing of blogging the ordinary. However please be prepared for more little breaks whilst we begin to find our feet in the coming weeks.

Bosworth Battlefield
Yesterday, we made a visit to Bosworth Battlefield, the site where King Richard III was to be the last of the Plantagenet line of monarchs. It was here that he was slain and the new King, Henry the VII became the new King of England, and started the Tudor Monarchy.
Of course, this is completely thrilling for Mr Bee, who is completely obsessed with Kings and Queens at the moment, Richard III being his favourite of course, despite his Lancastrian background!
We headed off with a picnic and then let the boys do their thing.
The view from Ambion Hill where Henry VII and his troops began their descent to the battlefields below.
A wonderful walk took us all around Ambion Hill, down to Shenton Railway Station where we had a look around the glass blowing studio. A big walk back to the car and the boys were so tired! We saw lots of animals and lots of beautiful views and had a thoroughly lovely day out!

Bits and Bobs
Bit of a quiet one this week, here is a mish mash of what we have been up to.
1. Playdough in pyjamas before nursery.2. A rather foggy but absolutely beautiful drive to work. A busy day but lots of great news!!
3. Market Bosworth Country Park. The trees are still bare, the ducks were very noisy and we had to don our slipper socks when we got home because our feet were very damp!
4. A lovely friend of mine gave birth to twin boys on the 29th of Feb, what joy! Congratulations Asta and Darren!
5. Lots of crafting, Mr Bee was sorting buttons to keep out of Mama's way.
6. Messy painting... you should have seen the state of the sofa....
7. Mama wanted to play photographer so dug out Grandpa's tripod which has been in the attic for over 17 years. I knew I would use it one day! However, Mr Bee had hours of fun playing with it, pretending to make films.
